A sourcing quote is useful only when the commercial basis is clear. This guide explains the terms JPNentry may use when presenting a Japan-side sourcing option.
Unit price
The quoted unit price should be read together with its currency, quantity basis and validity. A low-quantity supplier price may not apply to a large-volume requirement.
Ex-Warehouse / EXW-style basis
The goods price is presented at the Japan-side source or warehouse before the buyer's international freight, destination charges, duties and taxes unless otherwise stated.
FCA / FOB / CIF and other delivery bases
If a quotation uses a transport-related basis, the included and excluded charges should be stated. Do not assume customs duty, import tax or destination handling is included unless written.
Confirmed stock versus orderable quantity
Confirmed stock means the relevant source has indicated the quantity is currently available. Orderable quantity may depend on manufacturer supply, accumulation over time or later confirmation.
Lead time
Lead time may be supplier-confirmed or estimated. If it is estimated, JPNentry should not present it as a guaranteed delivery date.
Price reconfirmation
Manufacturer pricing, exchange rates and freight rates can change. If a price is subject to reconfirmation at order time, that condition should be stated.
Quote validity
A quote may have a validity period because stock, supplier pricing and transport conditions can change.
Commercial no-go
If the landed cost, minimum quantity, specification or timing makes the transaction commercially unrealistic, JPNentry may stop the quotation process instead of presenting a misleading offer.
Before you pay
If anything in a quote is unclear, ask for clarification or verify the communication through the Trust Center before paying.
